Essential Maternal Care
March 15, 2025
Maternal Health
Pregnancy is a special time that requires proper medical care to ensure the health of both mother and baby. At Blue Turtle Medical Clinic, we provide comprehensive maternal health services to support women through every stage of pregnancy and early motherhood.
Importance of Antenatal Care
Regular antenatal visits allow our healthcare providers to:
- Monitor the health of both mother and baby
- Detect and manage any potential complications early
- Provide essential vaccinations (tetanus toxoid)
- Offer nutritional counseling tailored for Kenyan dietary habits
- Screen for conditions like anemia, HIV, and gestational diabetes
- Prepare mothers for childbirth through education
Our Antenatal Schedule
We recommend the following schedule for antenatal visits:
- At least Eight Antenatal visits before delivery
Each visit includes blood pressure monitoring, weight check, fetal heart rate monitoring, and abdominal examination to assess fetal growth.
- Signs of labor and when to come to the clinic
- Pain management techniques
- Breastfeeding preparation
- Newborn care basics
- Postpartum recovery
Our maternal care program is designed with Kenyan women in mind, providing culturally sensitive care from our all-female team of healthcare providers. We accept NHIF for maternity packages and offer sliding scale fees for those without insurance.
